FEATURING: "PIRROVISION"tm
Special Offer For Filmmakers

WITH THE HELP OF PIRROMOUNT PICTURES YOU CAN SAVE TENS OF THOUSANDS
ON YOUR MOVIE! SHOOT DIGITAL VIDEO (DV) INSTEAD OF 35mm or 16mm
AND WE CAN MAKE IT LOOK LIKE FILM

  • What's the biggest excuse for not making your movie(s)? If you're like most potential filmmakers, it's the high cost of film stock and processing. These costs make it prohibitive for many young filmmakers to successfully start their careers. So what happens? They either beg, borrow or steal to try and get the cash to produce their movies or they just keep putting off starting. But what if you could shoot your project for, say, a few hundred dollars? You can!  Just shoot it on Digital Video and allow us to give it a characteristics of film; an appearance that most of your audience will accept as film.
  • WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?? I WANT TO BE A FILMMAKER, NOT A VIDEOGRAPHER!
  • The owner of Pirromount, Mark Pirro felt the same way. His first six motion pictures were shot on film.  There was a time when he would have never considered shooting a feature movie on tape. But he has spent the last two years perfecting a process to take a videoimage and give it the characteristics of movie film.  From motion to colors to grain, he has developed a combination of filters that will convince many viewers they're watching movie film.
  • BUT WHY SHOULD I ABOLISH THE CONCEPT OF USING FILM?
  • I wouldn't abolish it.  I would postpone it until you have money to burn.  Let's face it, most low budget films find their biggest audience on cable television and home video.  Only a small percentage of movies made get a theatrical release.  Moreover, an average 90 minute film shot on 35mm or even 16mm is likely going to cost a minimum of $20,000 to $40,000 on film stock and processing alone, and for what?  For a movie that most people will see on their television screen.  Why not put your money on the screen instead of into the lab?   If the end result appears like it originated on film, who needs to know that it didn't?  That's what Pirrovision can do for you.
  • WHAT IS "PIRROVISION" AND HOW DOES IT WORK??
  • Pirrovision is the name of the process whereas by using a combination of digital filters and effects, we can take a well shot video and give it the necessary elements to make it look like it originated on film.  We guarantee it!  Our feature film Color-Blinded was the prototype, which we did in black and white, and now we have perfected the process for color.  The entire budget of Color-Blinded was less than the cost of 8 minutes of 35mm film stock and processing.  We guarantee the average viewer won't be able to distinguish the video footage from film.  And the above average viewer will seriously question its origin.  The secret is in the detail.  It's elements like these that give Pirrovision its authenticity.
  • HOW MUCH CAN I SAVE??
  • Depends on your shooting ratio.  You can shoot an hour of digital video for under $15 (with some cameras you can get 90 minutes for that price).  How much would it cost you to shoot and process that much 35mm or 16mm film??  If you're planning on producing your first or next film, talk to us and save tens of thousands of your filmstock and processing budget, simply by eliminating film stock and processing.  It's that simple.
  • CAN I USE REGULAR VIDEO, LIKE VHS OR HI 8??
  • Yes, any video format will work.  We suggest Digital video because of its sharp and near flawless resolution, but any video format would certainly work.  It's just important that the video be shot well.  Pirrovision won't clean up badly shot, focused or lit images, so it needs to be right in the production phase.
  • HOW MUCH WILL YOU CHARGE ME FOR THIS??

  • We're currently charging $50 per minute of transferred video.  So a 90 minute film would cost about $4500 plus tape stock.  Think of it, an ENTIRE film budget for a 90 minute feature, $4500.
  • OK, WHAT'S THE PROCEDURE?
  • Contact us before you start pre production of your next film.  We will consult with you to make sure you get the best possible footage to start with (i.e. lighting, exposures, conditions, etc.)  Once its shot, you edit the video and then send us the edited footage in ten minute reels (or for the more adventurous, you can send us your unedited dailies).  We will process those reels with our movie look technique and then send the new footage back to you in whatever video format you request.  Or, if you already have a movie that was produced on video, send us a copy and we can evaluate it and see if the quality is good enough for us to process with Pirrovision.  In either case, you'll then have a product that looks like you spent tens of thousands more than you did and your viewers will never know.
  • AREN'T THERE OTHER PLACES THAT DO THE SAME THING YOU DO?
  • Yes there are and we've got them worried because we can do what they can do at a fraction of the cost.  In fact, just recently we received a letter from one of their attorneys requesting we change the wording on our web page, they say it's because of registration infringement, but we suspect the real reason...we're cutting into their action (contact us personally and we'll show you the letter).
  • CAN I SEE A SAMPLE OF YOUR PROCESS?
  • Certainly.  You can ask for our demo tape (for $6.00 to handle processing and postage).  Or if you already have some video footage shot, send a clean copy on VHS to us with a blank VHS tape (plus$6.00 processing and postage).  We'll run a sample for you on up to one minute of your footage.  All we ask is that the footage you send us be good quality video.  Chances are there's little we can do for under lit, shaky, camcorder footage of your cousin's wedding.  We'll send you back a Pirrovision processed version of your footage and YOU WILL BE AMAZED.  After you've seen the result, you'll see that unless you're going theatrical, there's no reason to spend most of your budget on filmstock again!!
  • HOW DO I START THIS PROCESS and CAN YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE WITH MY FOOTAGE??
  • Everything starts with the initial dialog.  Send us an email and let us know about your project, budget, expectations and goals.  We'll go from there.  Regarding anything else, we can also do titles, opticals, logos, special effects, image stabilization, sound mixing, music, etc.  Don't forget, we're also a full feature production company as well.
  • WHERE DO I SEND MY FOOTAGE?
  • Send it to "Pirrovision" PO Box 7520 Van Nuys, Ca. 91409
